The story follows Bette Johnson, who is eight months pregnant and decides to leave her unfaithful husband, Steve, without telling anyone. She withdraws $350,000 from their joint account, buys an SUV from a woman named Lovey, and heads to the snowy mountains. However, things take a dark turn when Bette has a car accident and is rescued by a snowplow driver named Ben Avery.

Meanwhile, Lovey discovers that the SUV she sold to Bette contains hidden diamonds from a heist. Determined to retrieve the diamonds, Lovey aligns herself with an unknowing Steve, who is now a suspect in Bette’s disappearance, and will stop at nothing to find Bette and the diamonds.

About the author

LYNETTE SAUNDERS ALEXANDER was born in Pinehurst, NC and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area during the elementary school years. In Fourth grade, she became fascinated with Alfred Hitchcock and Harlequin Romance novels and later decided romance and fear worked extraordinarily well together.

In a college English class, she penned a comparative writing on “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Psycho.” It made quite an impression and much discussion and laughter took place with her fellow students. She decided to try her hand at writing and attended a number of writing classes/conferences in Los Angeles, CA. After someone read “The Icing on the Cake” she was asked “Do I need to sleep with one eye open?” Ms. Alexander responded “Probably.
